Training
Tony completed his undergraduate and postgraduate training at the University of New South Wales. He has undertaken advanced training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing. Tony has also completed intensive training in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) with BehaviourTech. Tony is registered to practice as a Psychologist in New South Wales and is registered as a provider of clinical psychology services with Medicare. He is a member of the Australian Psychological Society College of Clinical Psychologists, The Australian Clinical Psychology Association, The Australian Association for Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy, The Association for Contextual Behavioural Science, and The International Association for the Study of Pain.
Clinical Experience
Tony underwent his training at the Anxiety Disorders Unit at Westmead Hospital, the Department of Neuropsychology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, and Redbank House at Westmead Hospital. He then worked in the Mood Disorders Unit at Northside Clinic and was ultimately responsible for the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Programme at Berkeley Vale Private Hospital. Tony has also worked at the Gambling Treatment Service at St Vincents Hospital where he provided treatment for problem gamblers and families.
For ten years Tony was responsible for the clinical psychology programme at the Pain Management Centre at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. During this time he also worked as part of Eastern Suburbs Pain Clinic and Camperdown Pain Management Centre. He is now a member of the Inner West Pain Centre team.
Tony is an Associate Lecturer in the Schools of Psychology at The University of New South Wales and the University of Western Sydney, where he teaches in the Masters of Clinical Psychology programmes. He is also Clinical Associate in the Department of Psychology at The University of New South Wales, Macquarie University and The University of Sydney, and regularly supervises intern and registered clinical psychologists. Tony has presented at national and international conferences and run workshops for clinicians and government agencies. He has written several book chapters on chronic pain, and is a recipient of several current research grants. He is a trainer with the Black Dog Institute where he runs workshops as part of their professional development programmes.
Tony works with people with a wide range of psychological problems, such as depression, anxiety, life transition difficulties and sleep problems. Additionally he has particular interest and experience in workplace stress, chronic pain, self harm, borderline personality disorder, and clinical health psychology.
